This weekend I attended a very special event. But to start off – just my normal winter weekend wear. This is one of my favourite looks that is comfy, cozy and still sophisticated.

Saturday night I attended the 30th Anniversary Dinner of an organization near and dear to both mine and my best friends heart. I was introduced to Sombrilla by her and even spent a time on the board as Treasurer. However, other obligations meant that I could not keep participating in such a committed way. Hopefully, I can make up for this a little by sharing with you about this amazing organization.

For 30 years, Sombrilla has been partnering with communities in Latin America to empower them to assert their democratic, economic, cultural, and social rights. They strive to improve quality of life by addressing needs such as food security, clean water, health care and education.

Sombrilla has worked with several Latin American communities on some very special projects. The Yurac Yacu project in Peru, focused on building a community centre which now houses a local preschool, classrooms for adult vocational classes and local ecotourism businesses. In Tierra Colorada (Guatemala), Sombrilla worked to build a second story for the local elementary school. This project now includes teaching students how to make and maintain biosand water filters for a clean and safe source of drinking water.

Please check out this organization and consider making a donation so they can keep doing amazing things around the world.

Top Trends for Work Attire in 2018 – Part 2

Welcome to Part 2 of the top trends for work attire in 2018! These trends are completely wearable and are at the forefront of what you should be wearing this year. Everything I have linked is less than $250!

Bold FloralsBold Florals

Who doesn’t love florals!? Well, I am sure there are some out there, but personally I love them all! I have been wearing the black floral top from this collage on repeat. If they are  potentially a little to much for you try this trend by adding a floral accent through your shoes or your bag.

Pencil Skirts

Pencil Skirts

The perfect piece for work is back in full swing this year. This trend is easy to wear, just remember that the secret to a pencil skirt is the fit, so a tailor may be your new found friend. To wear this trend past work wear, try pairing one like the first in my collage with flats or sneakers to get it weekend ready.

Pastels

Pastels

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7

Such beautiful colours make me long for spring! Millennial pink is moving slightly to the side, making room for mint green, baby blue, pastel purple etc. Anything goes with this trend, pop on a simple pastel blazer over an all black outfit, or wear pastels head to tie, cause why not!?

Thanks for stopping by. Let me know in the comments which trend you will be rocking the most in 2018!

Top Trends For Work Attire For 2018 – Part 1

I have done my research for you all and pulled together the top trends for work wear in 2018! These trends are completely wearable and are at the forefront of what you should be wearing this year. This is only Part 1 as it has taken me quite a bit of work to pull this post together, so without further ado, let’s get to the good stuff!

PlaidTop Trends For Work 2018 - Plaid

1 (less than $40)| 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10

Sooooo I think that Plaid might be my favourite of all the trends, but I also think it is the easiest one to wear for work attire! Another great thing about it, is that I bet you have some sort of plaid piece sitting it your closet just waiting for you to pull it out and wear it again. Don’t forget to carry this trend on into spring or summer by wearing your favourite gingham piece!

Bold Jewel Tones

Top Trends For Work Attire 2018 - Bold Jewel Tones

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

2018 has us moving away from the “Millennial Pink” and embracing Pantone’s colour of the year “Ultra Violet”. It is all about those vibrant, saturated jewel tones. As we move towards spring, start embracing those beautiful ruby reds, fuchsia pink and even a beautiful bright yellow or orange. Everyone out there can find a bright colour that will work for their skin tone. To mix trends, I would wear the red jumpsuit with a great plaid blazer over top for the perfect work look.

 Trench Coats

Another item that is making a come back this year is the trench coat. A classic wardrobe staple for any working woman. You can stick the the traditional camel trench or branch out into a bolder colour! Try a red trench, to mix in with the jewel tone trend. Consider this a timeless piece that you can wear over and over again. I would highly recommend picking up your favourite!

Part 2 will be coming at you next Monday! Thanks for stopping by. Let me know in the comments which trend you will be rocking the most in 2018!

Casual Friday is my favourite day of the week. You’ve heard it before from me. I LOVE jeans soooo much. This is an outfit you can wear on a casual Friday to work or even for running errands on the weekend.

These pictures are actually a little bit old but I figured I still really like the outfit and want to share it. A couple of things are now sold out or a little bit older. I have linked almost identical items for you to try out instead.

I feel like this week was the first actual week back at work. I didn’t take anytime off during Christmas, so it kind of felt like limbo. Most people were out of the office until Monday so I am just back into the full swing of things. Does anyone else find it so hard to get back into your regular work routine after the holidays?

My Favourite Piece to Layer With

I am keeping it short and sweet today everyone. I have had such a busy time at work lately that sometimes you just have to prioritize! However, I still wanted to share these photos filled with this awesome black faux fur gilet. It is my favourite layering piece for fall and winter. Wearing it over any long sleeved top in the fall and even turtlenecks all winter long. It can be dressed up with faux leather leggings or a skirt. There are just sooooo many different options on how to wear one. Also, I am seriously considering this one with the hood as it looks super cozy.

Here are all the amazing different gilet options I was able to find for you!

A little extra post this week because this year I am trying to be better and get this chosen way before I need to! I hate running around at the at the last minute searching for the perfect dress to wear to the office Christmas party. This is also a great opportunity to make sure all of you ladies out there are prepared too! I am planning to wear that fabulous maxi dress and guess what?! It is already in my closet waiting to get styled. Honestly, if I didn’t have a dress already my next choice would be the silver sequin dress! But I may or may not be ordering the gorgeous red velvet number in case I have another party come up last minute 😉

My favourite fall work look!

I am keeping it short and sweet today. The look I shared above is one I fall back to every fall season. I love the typical fall colours like burgundy and olive, but there is no way to deny my favourite colours to wear are good old black and white (yes, yes I always remember kids telling me they are shades not colours). Black and white pair with anything, making those rushed mornings that much easier. Pair a black and white top with some fall coloured work appropriate pants, throw on some simple accessories, grab your favourite work bag and get out the door!

What are your favourite things to style every fall??

How I Wear My Summer Wardrobe All Winter…

Tips and Tricks to Wear Your Summer Clothes All Winter

I don’t know about you but I don’t do some major turnover of my wardrobe during the fall. First, I do have quite a bit of clothes but I have not really organized them specifically by season. Second, I am just plain lazy about doing things like that. Third, why would I want to put a favourite piece of clothing away to not see it for the next couple of months! So below are my top 10 tips and tricks to wear your summer clothes all winter.

1. Just wear it!!

My top in the pictures above definitely looks like a summer top, and to be honest I love it. So I will wear it all winter long and just throw my big puffy jacket over it outside!

2. Closed toed shoes.

You can see in the pictures above I switched from sandals to a pair a of closed toed pumps. This helps the outfit feel a little bit more for colder weather without losing the style of the outfit.

3. Just add tights/stockings/pantyhose (whatever you call them!).

This was a big discussion around my office and all the ladies agreed. We continue to wear our skirts and dresses all year long by covering up our legs!

4. Don’t put away your summer colours/patterns.

Like my first point, keep wearing those pastel colours and floral tops and dresses, just add a darker hued sweater or blazer over top and you have a great mixture of colours to carry you through the colder months.

5. Layer up.

I think a lot of ladies like me who live in colder climates will know this but by adding a thermal top under just about anything will keep you warm. Or try a turtleneck under your favourite sleeveless dress!

6. Get some faux fur.

One of my favourite things to wear as the weather changes is a faux fur gillet/vest over top of whatever top I choose to wear during the day. It also adds a bit of glamour to your outfit during the day

7. Add a scarf.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love a good scarf. You can wear it to add a little texture to any outfit while keeping you nice and toasty. Several of my scarfs I can also wrap around me during the day if I get to chilly sitting in my office chair.

8. Add a cardigan.

One of my favourite pieces is to layer a cardigan over my tops. Honestly, I do this regardless of the weather. In the summer the A/C is usually pretty chilly in the office and in the winter the more layers the better. I have one in every colour of the rainbow I swear… I just counted I have 12. May be excessive but like I said I feel like I am in one every day year round!

9. Wear them boots!

Now, I have a really hard time giving up my open-toed shoes. Personally, I am not a fan of socks for some strange reason. However, when the time comes aka a lot of snow, I have to put on some socks and boots. I like to pair my sundress with a blazer and some OTK or knee-high boots to wear through the colder months.

10. Get a good winter coat.

This one is only half about the style of the coat. I live in the great white north and it gets really cold up here during the winter. Invest in a great winter coat that will keep you warm when you are outside. I focus more on the warmth than then style of the coat to be honest. I only have to wear it outside, and when I get inside it comes right off anyways! This means you can wear just about anything underneath it and still be warm when you venture outdoors.

Going Back To Work…

This week I went back to work! Those of you that follow along on Instagram are probably aware that I took a little bit of a break. I returned to my full time job this week after two months away. I am not ready to share exactly why I was off for those two months yet, but I will hopefully be able to soon!

I also would like to acknowledge how nervous I was about returning to my job. I have only been with the organization since March of this year. Returning to work after two months felt like I was starting all over again. However, I have a team of some pretty amazing people who accepted me back without a second thought or even skipping a beat!

In the end I am so happy I am to be back in the swing of things. I am ready to get back to posting regularly. Hopefully, you all keep following along!
